- It has become the first energy company to certify the entire lifecycle of an AI-based system deployed in an industrial setting.
The recently created ISO/IEC 42001 standard certifies the implementation of an artificial intelligence management system that meets rigorous requirements for risk management and mitigation, quality control, cybersecurity, and data protection. It also establishes policies and governance mechanisms to ensure the system's responsible use.
The goal of developing the artificial intelligence management system is to provide organizations with a robust and structured framework that supports regulatory compliance in this area. As a result, a growing number of organizations are gradually adopting ISO/IEC 42001 as a reference standard.
In line with its commitment to developing responsible artificial intelligence and ensuring regulatory compliance, Moeve has become a pioneer in the energy sector by certifying the entire lifecycle of an AI system designed to optimize aviation fuel blending, covering every phase: design, development, deployment, and use. This certification paves the way for the technology to be extended to current and future green molecule production processes, including Moeve’s 2G biofuels plant, which is currently under construction in Huelva, as well as the development of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley.
“AI is already transforming and powering Moeve’s major strategic projects. It offers a tremendous opportunity to accelerate our goals, but we must ensure it’s applied in a governed, responsible, and ethical way. Certifications like the one AENOR is awarding us today show that we’re on the right path.”
David Liras, Chief Digital Information Officer at Moeve
Nicolás Henríquez, Business Development Director at AENOR, added that "Moeve's achievement of the AENOR certification in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001 demonstrates that its artificial intelligence system is managed transparently and responsibly throughout its entire lifecycle. This certification confirms that the organization has implemented a robust and structured approach, which covers everything from designing and developing its solutions to deploying and using them, supported by controls and processes that align with international best practices.”
Moeve is moving forward with its strategy to transform energy and mobility through its Positive Motion roadmap. The company aims to become a leader in the energy transition by 2030, and it’s pursuing this goal through a comprehensive digital strategy. In addition to its partnerships in this area, the company promotes the democratization of technology with a green digital focus and drives digital innovation in areas such as quantum computing.
