- The aim of the agreement is to promote the research, development, application, and validation of technologies to decisively boost the Andalusian quantum sector
In Torre Sevilla, Moeve and the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA) have announced an alliance that will contribute to positioning the Autonomous Region at the heart of the national quantum landscape. This public-private partnership looks to develop quantum initiatives and technology, to address industrial challenges, promote scientific talent, and generally stimulate this Andalusian ecosystem.
The agreement between Moeve and ADA is part of the initiative of the Centro de Innovación en Tecnologías Exponenciales, which has IBM as its main technology partner. It also includes collaboration with Ayesa, a leading technology integration company based in Seville.
Within the framework of this alliance, research and development will be promoted through quantum technology, with use cases that increase energy efficiency and enhance security at the Moeve Energy Parks in La Rábida (Huelva) and San Roque (Cadiz), maximizing the potential of their industrial processes. Quantum computing promises the ability to perform more complex calculations more accurately than classical computing alone, something that has special interest and impact in the industrial sector.
“Public-private collaboration is essential to developing our economy through digital innovation. In the field of quantum computing, we have decided to build a very important alliance with ADA, due to Moeve's commitment to Andalusia as a strategic region. In addition, we are collaborating with IBM, a leading multinational company in its sector.”
José Manuel Martínez, executive vice president of Technology, Projects, and Services at Moeve
Jorge Paradela, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Regional Government of Andalusia, highlighted that digital transformation is a collective challenge that requires the involvement of public administrations, companies, SMEs, startups, clusters, academia, and citizens. "Thanks to this joint effort, Andalusia is advancing at a rate above the European average in 5G connectivity, business digitalization, and digital public services, consolidating itself as one of the best-prepared territories for the digital economy."
The partnership between Moeve and ADA, along with IBM, represents a key milestone that strengthens public-private collaboration in Andalusia and the regional ecosystem of technological innovation, and training and talent. Furthermore, for Moeve, it also represents a very important position in this innovative area. The energy sector has just launched its Center of Excellence in Quantum Computing, an important milestone in its quantum roadmap for integrating digital solutions in the field of its businesses, accelerating the energy transition, and fostering the talent of its employees. Furthermore, through DigitalES, it is part of the first National Strategy for Quantal Technologies 2025-2030, promoted by Red.es.
