The 30th edition of the UN Climate Change Conference wrapped up in Belém, Brazil, after two weeks of negotiations, resulting in a global agreement to limit global warming to 1.5ºC. However, despite pressure from the European Union, the agreement does not include a commitment to phase out fossil fuels.
The summit addressed key issues such as financing and adaptation, and also resolved the question of where the next conference will be held: Turkey will host COP31, while Australia will organize the agenda and lead negotiations to continue advancing a just transition and a more responsible, sustainable planet.
