- A recognition of its commitment to research, innovation and sustainability
Moeve has been honored with the BASF Award for Best Circular Economy Practice in Spain, in the Large Company category, for its Recycled Flexitank Project for the Transport of Chemical Products. This award, presented by BASF and the Club of Excellence in Sustainability, recognizes Moeve’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in its industrial processes and products, from a responsible and transformative perspective.
The BASF Circular Economy Awards aim to acknowledge research and business projects that enhance corporate competitiveness in Spain through circular economy principles and a sustainable approach, both socially and environmentally.
The award was received by Elena Alcalde, Supply Chain and Procurement Director of Moeve’s Chemical Business, who stated that this recognition “acknowledges the work we are carrying out at Moeve through our Positive Motion strategy to drive decarbonization and sustainability across all industrial processes—from the start of production to the logistical transport to our customers.” Alcalde also emphasized that the BASF Award for Best Circular Economy Practice in Spain “serves as motivation and encouragement for all of us working in Moeve’s chemical business to continue striving and advancing in the development of our Next range of sustainable chemical products.”
A pioneering project in industrial sustainability
The award-winning project, developed in collaboration between Moeve and DHL, focuses on creating a new packaging system for transporting chemical products using recycled content. Specifically, 17.5% of the polyethylene used in its manufacture comes from recycled material derived from waste generated during the production process itself. In addition, this system uses 18% less polymer than previous packaging models. Together, these improvements contribute to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact, while promoting circular economy principles.
Moeve’s Chemical Division has already begun using this new packaging system in maritime transport for the supply of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) to its international customers. Moeve is the world’s leading manufacturer of this product, which is widely used in the production of biodegradable detergents, both for domestic and industrial applications.
By adopting the recycled flexitank, Moeve contributes to reducing the environmental impact and carbon footprint associated with its shipments, while promoting a more circular and sustainable supply chain.
