The Tenerife Refinery will invest 355,600 euros to reduce its environmental impact and increase safety in La Hondura, the Dique del Este and the external lines
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cepsa have renewed the Good Environmental Practices Agreement for the La Hondura Maritime Terminal, the Eastern Dock and the external lines for the 2017-2019 period.

Under this agreement, the Tenerife Refinery will invest 355,600 euros, mainly to minimize possible impacts to the soil, increase operational safety and reduce the risk of accidental spills at sea, as well as reducing waste production.
In accordance with the provisions of the Good Environmental Practices Guide published by Puertos del Estado, the signing of this agreement means that Cepsa enjoys a 20% discount on the port activity tax, to promote the adoption of better environmental practices during the period of the agreement.
Over the three-year period, activities will include the segregation of the mixed fuels from the loading and unloading lines, which are treated as waste at the La Hondura Maritime Terminal. The idea is to reduce the movements of these products to a minimum, making operations safer and adequately segregating the mixture of products.
The company is also going to adapt the metallic waste storage facility located in the refinery's port concession area, where the metal is kept before sending it to be recycled, to guarantee that it is properly managed and to avoid risks of soil contamination.
Cepsa is aware that environmental excellence is a core part of its activity, and, accordingly, it has implemented an Environmental Management System that develops its Environmental Policy, and decides upon the human, technical and economic resources required to comply with it.
