Elena Uldall, an expert in product stewardship and lifecycle analysis at Moeve, explains what the cradle-to-gate concept means, where it comes from, and what it’s used for
The cradle-to-gate concept is used to analyze the lifecycle of a product, from the extraction of raw materials to the manufacturing process. It does so by studying the phases of a product's lifecycle, including the acquisition of raw materials, their transportation to the factory, and the production process. This process makes it possible to calculate the potential impact of different environmental aspects and promote more sustainable production processes.
